US President Joe Biden has said that the West ‘had nothing to do’ with Russia’s Wagner revolt. News Agency AFP has tweeted Biden’s statement about the Wagner Revolt. Meanwhile, the revolt is now aborted by the person who has started it first. There were some social media talks about US or West playing a role in Wagner Revolt but these are merely false things.
Wagner Group Leader Yevgeny Prigozhin started this revolt against Russian President Vladimir Putin but ended it almost voluntarily after Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko talked with Prigozhin. According to reports Lukashenko negotiated a significant deal between Prigozhin and Putin.
After the announcement of ending the revolt, Russian government said that The Wagner mercenary group will continue operations in Mali and the Central African Republic. It is still not clear whether Wagner Group will continue in Ukrainian front or not. Russia invaded Ukrainian territories on 24 February, 2022. Wagner group was actively involved in the “special operation” of Russian military.
A former Friend of Putin
Prigozhin is actually a former friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Prigozhin founded Wagner in 2014, in order to assist Putin’s invasion of Crimea. Since then he has been involved in Russian ‘interventions’ across the world, especially in Africa and Syria.
Is Putin still powerful?
After the Wagner Revolt, political commentators are saying that Putin has lost the iron grip on the country. This may become fatal if Putin does fail to rectify the errors in his table. International Relations Experts expressed that almost every one thought that Putin has absolute power in his country but Wagner revolt dismiss that opinion effectively. It is also not clear how Putin will handle the post Wagner Revolt scenario.
