The list of “America’s Richest Self-Made Women” was released by Forbes on Thursday. Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner were included in the top 50 of the list, but only one is still a billionaire.
Jenner, who is 25 years old and has a net worth of $680 million, is rated 38th on the 2023 list, while Kardashian, who is 42 years old and has a net worth of $1.2 billion, is ranked 21st.
A reassessment of Jenner’s net worth led to the removal of the title of youngest self-made billionaire she had earned from Forbes in 2018. The title was awarded to Jenner in 2018.
In 2015, Kylie Jenner, inventor of Kylie Cosmetics, used the $250,000 she had earned from modeling to fund the launch of her line of lip kits. According to Forbes, she could net around $540 million before paying taxes after selling 51% of Kylie Cosmetics to Coty Inc. in January 2020 for $600 million.
However, later in 2020, Forbes issued a damning investigation with papers proving that the firm was smaller than the family said it was for years. As a result, Forbes estimated her fortune as just under $900 million at the time, and she was no longer considered a billionaire.
Jenner maintains ownership of around 44 percent of Kylie Cosmetics.
On the other hand, Kardashian is still a billionaire despite her net worth decreasing since last year.
According to Forbes, the reality TV actress had a net worth of $1.8 billion in 2022, much more than her present value of $1.2 billion.
The bulk of Kardashian’s wealth originates from her shapewear firm, Skims, which at the time of raising $240 million in January 2022, had a value of $3.2 billion. Skims were the source of the majority of Kardashian’s riches. The brand has received investment from billionaires Stephen Mandel and Josh Kushner.
The transaction occurred in 2020 and resulted in Kardashian receiving $200 million for selling 20% of KKW Beauty to Coty, Inc. The same publicly listed firm purchased Kylie Cosmetics. However, Kardashian ceased operations of the cosmetics and perfume firm in 2021 to concentrate on introducing the luxury skincare brand SKKN By Kim in June 2022.
Rihanna overtook Kim Kardashian as the youngest self-made billionaire woman in the United States a year ago, taking the title away from Kardashian. Rihanna has moved up one position to 20th overall, passing Kim Kardashian.
Rihanna is still the youngest self-made billionaire woman on the Forbes list, even though she is now 35 years old. Her net worth is $1.4 billion, which is the same as it was the year before.
