When asked in her Aug. 15 Vanity Fair cover story, published Tuesday, whether their dynamic is a \u201chappy\u201d one now that she has been named the sole trustee of her late mother\u2019s estate and the owner of Graceland, the actress hesitated.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m trying to think of a way to answer it that\u2019s not a 20-minute conversation,\u201d the \u201cDaisy Jones and the Six\u201d alum, 34, explained.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was a bit of upheaval, but now everything\u2019s going to be how it was,\u201d the Golden Globe nominee claimed. \u201cAnything that would suggest otherwise in the press makes me sad because, at the end of the day, all [Priscilla] wants is to love and protect Graceland and the Presley family and the legacy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Keough clarified that \u201cthings with Grandma will be happy\u201d now that \u201cclarity has been had,\u201d adding that the 78-year-old can \u201cof course\u201d be buried at Graceland \u201cif she wants.\u201d<\/p>\n
She explained that Lisa Marie\u2019s January death led to \u201ca lot of chaos\u201d in the family.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything felt like the carpet had been ripped out and the floor had melted from under us,\u201d the Emmy nominee recalled. \u201cEveryone was in a bit of a panic to understand how we move forward, and it just took a minute to understand the details of the situation, because it\u2019s complicated.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cWe are a family, but there\u2019s also a huge business side of our family.\u201d<\/p>\n
The wide-ranging interview, which also covered Keough\u2019s daughter Tulepo\u2019s secret arrival via surrogate and her marriage to Ben Smith-Petersen, marked the first time she has spoken about the legal battle since a Los Angeles Superior Court judge approved a settlement naming her sole heir.<\/p>\n
The drama began shortly after Lisa Marie\u2019s passing when Priscilla contested her daughter\u2019s will. She disputed a 2016 amendment removing her as co-trustee and naming Keough and her brother Benjamin, who has since died, instead.<\/p>\n
After a months-long dispute, Keough agreed to give her grandma $1 million to become the sole trustee, as well as $400,000 to cover legal fees.<\/p>\n
Priscilla gushed that \u201cElvis [Presley] would be proud\u201d of the June settlement in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cLisa\u2019s wishes are what are most important to all of us,\u201d the King of Rock \u2018n\u2019 Roll\u2019s widow wrote at the time. \u201cMy granddaughter, through her counsel, along with my team worked diligently and tirelessly to resolve all misunderstandings as a family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before their agreement, she and Keough put on a united front at Lisa Marie\u2019s memorial at Graceland in January.<\/p>\n
While the 54-year-old\u2019s cause of death was not known at the time, it has since been revealed that she died of a bowel obstruction.<\/p>\n
\u201cI did feel like there was a choice in front of me to give up and let this event take me out or have the courage to work through it,\u201d Keough told the magazine on Tuesday of losing Lisa Marie. \u201cI started trying to move through it and not let it take me out.\u201d<\/p>\n
